Message from the president

Val-d’Or, December 16th, 2009 – The Board of Directors of the Secretariat is proud to announce the election of Dr. Ted Moses O.Q.; as President of the Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance.
 
Dr. Moses is well known in the business community, a great leader and a fervent promoter of economic relations between the Crees and the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region.  He currently presides over multi-million dollar corporations such as the Cree Nation Trust, Petronor, 9143-1981 Québec Inc. (NEMAO), Kaweshekami Environment Inc., and Youdin Geomatic.
 
Former Val-d’Or Mayor Fernand Trahan said:  « Dr. Ted Moses is not new to the Secretariat as he co-founded it along with me, Albert Diamond and current Executive Director Pierre Ouellet.  He is also a great business leader who believes strongly in economic alliances between Crees and Abitibi-Témiscamingue

Dr. Ted Moses received his education from McGill University. He holds two honorary doctorates from University of Saskatchewan and Concordia University, and the Quebec National Assembly awarded him the highest Quebec government distinction as a member of  l’Ordre du Québec. He was extensively involved in the negotiations of the social, economic and political development of the Cree Nation under the "James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement", in 1975 and as Former Grand Chief he signed the "Paix des Braves Agreement", in 2002.
