Alliance Announcement with the municipalities of Matagami and Lebel-sur-Quévillon

Val-d'Or, November 17 2011, The Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance is pleased to announce that two municipalities have officially joined as full members of the Regionalization Agreement of the Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance; Lebel-sur-Quevillon and Matagami.


This decision is relevant based on the particularity and the historical business links the two municipalities have with the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region and the Crees for their development.


The Secretariat’s decision to have accepted two James-Bay municipalities follows a normal evolution towardsdeveloping the Nord and working with the people who lives on the territory.

This decision demonstrates openness, willingness and relevance to work together with the Cree and every resident of the North in the context of harmonious business development.

The Secretariat’s mission is to promote economic alliances between the Cree Nation and the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, in a spirit of mutual respect and collaboration for both regions harmonious economic growth.


The operations of the Secretariat are administered by a Board of Directors consisting of 19 members of which seven are nominated by the Cree Regional Authority, two members from the Town of Val-d’Or, two members from the Town of Rouyn-Noranda, two members from the town of Amos, one member from the City of La Sarre, one member from the city of Lebel-sur-Quévillon, one member from the city of Matagami, one member is designated by the Conférence régionale des élus de l’A-T, one member from the Ministère des Affaires municipals, Régions et Occupation du territoire and the Coordinator of the Secretariat.
