Change to the Board of Directors of the Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance
Val-d'Or, June 23, 2020 - The Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the “Secretariat”) and Ville d’Amos announce the departure of Mr. Jean-Pier Frigon and the appointment of Mr. Patrick Deshaies as the City’s representative on the Secretariat’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Frigon has served as a representative of Ville d’Amos since shortly after the creation of the Secretariat, seventeen years ago. Drs Ted Moses, Chairman of the Board of Directors, made a point of emphasizing, during the Board meeting, on May 26, 2020, Mr. Frigon's active participation and sustained work over the years. For his part, Mr. Sébastien D’Astous, Mayor of Ville d’Amos, administrator on the Board, expressed in these words on the departure of Mr. Frigon:
"I would like to thank Jean-Pier Frigon for all the years he has served on the Board and for the dynamism he has brought to the Board and I would also like to thank Mr. Deshaies for his future involvement in the next term. "
Mr. Frigon, confident of Mr. Deshaies' interest in the development of the North and in the activities of the Secretariat, wished to welcome him and mentioned that it was without concern that he passed the torch to him, certain that his successor will meetthe challenge.
It is by resolution of the Board of the Secretariat, following that of Ville d’Amosfor the change of the representative at the designated seat, that the departure of Mr. Jean-Pier Frigon was accepted and that Mr. Patrick Deshaies was appointed as new director to sit on the Board of Directors of the Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance.

It was in June 2002, that a symposium entitled “Gateway to Building Economic Channels” took place between the Cree Nation leaders and the business people of Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
This symposium proved very successful and revealed a high potential for building alliances between both populations with respect and in the spirit of the “Paix des Braves” Agreement and Cree empowerment.
The Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance, a non-profit organization mandated to act and follow-up on the contacts and projects arising from the symposium, has for mission to promote sustainable relations and socio-economic alliances between the Cree Nation (Eeyou Istchee), Jamésie, Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Nunavik regions in order to foster harmonious development.
