About Us

It was in June 2002, that a symposium entitled “Gateway to Building Economic Channels” took place between the Cree Nation leaders and the business people of AbitibiTémiscamingue. This symposium proved very successful and revealed a high potential for building alliances between both populations with respect and in the spirit of the “Paix des Braves” Agreement and Cree empowerment. The Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance was therefore created as a non-profit organization to act and follow-up on the contacts and projects arising from the symposium.

Word from the president

As Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance, I would like to emphasize the crucial importance of our organization in Quebec's economic and social landscape. Our mission, to foster closer ties and collaboration between Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous Peoples, is more relevant than ever. In an ever-changing world, the need to build solid, lasting bridges between our peoples is essential to ensure effective economic inclusion that respects the values and aspirations of the Cree Nation.

Our Team

Julie Martin

Julie Martin

Director General

Julie Martin joined SCNATEA in March 2024. Passionate about professional challenges and guided by values focused on people, integrity and respect, the new Executive Director brings a wealth of experience from ten years with a regional non-profit organization in Jamésie, Nord-du-Québec. More recently, she has supported and accompanied legal teams in aboriginal law, as well as corporate and business law, and also worked for several years as a human resources consultant in a large company. While working as a support member of an aboriginal law team, she developed a thirst for knowledge concerning relations with First Nations, which led to the start of a certificate in Native Studies at UQAT and a real desire to be an agent of change. Despite more modest experience in the socio-economic sector, her atypical and varied background demonstrates a capacity to bring significant added value to SCNATEA. His arrival promises leadership inspired by fundamental values, paving the way for new successes and advances for the organization.
