Economic Reconciliation at First Nations Executive Education
Published on August 13, 2024

The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, celebrated on August 9, highlights the importance of self-determination for Indigenous communities worldwide. The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), incorporated into Canadian law since 2021, supports this effort. The new Economic Reconciliation program at the First Nations Executive Education (FNEE) strengthens leadership and activates concrete economic reconciliation projects.
This year, the program brought together Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders, including Marie-Claude Cleary and Eric Deschênes from the philanthropic sector. Their joint project focusses on Nomadic Camps for Indigenous youth across the territory. Their learnings and work emphasize the importance of reciprocity and mutual respect in achieving self-determination and strengthening First Nations economies.
The next cohort for the Economic Reconciliation program will begin in February 2025, and you can register now. Learn more: https://ecole-dirigeants-premieres-nations.hec.ca/en/idwip-2024/
