From March 19 to 21, the SCNATEA team travelled to Oujé-Bougoumou to take part in a key event: the Eeyou Istchee James Contractor/Supplier Day organized by the Société du Plan Nord.
We were invited to present Niimuudaan, our mentorship program dedicated to Cree Nation entrepreneurs. It was a wonderful opportunity to highlight this meaningful initiative, rooted in values of knowledge transmission, guidance, and cultural grounding.
For this event, Geneviève Binette, Program Manager for Niimuudaan at SCNATEA, was joined by our deeply committed and inspiring lead mentor Charlotte Ottereyes, President of CWEIA, as well as Florence Belvisi, Manager of Special Projects and Partner Organizations at Réseau Mentorat. Experienced mentor Roger Gauthier, lead mentor for the Val-d’Or mentoring cell, was also present to share his insight.
Throughout the day, we were able to connect with several potential mentors and mentees. Meanwhile, our Director General Julie Martin took part in 15 rounds of scheduled business meetings, building valuable new connections for SCNATEA.
Our time in Oujé-Bougoumou was also an opportunity to visit the Aanischaaukamikw Cree Cultural Institute, a rich and inspiring cultural experience. We were fortunate to enjoy our meals in the elegant dining room of the Capissisit Lodge, a warm and welcoming place.
A heartfelt thank you to the community of Oujé-Bougoumou for your hospitality. Meegwetch Oujé!
