A Day of Connection, Pride and Reconciliation in Action

On November 26, 2025, over 200 people gathered at the Forestel in Val-d’Or to take part in the 22nd edition of the Business Exchange Day.
In a room filled with vibrant conversations, firm handshakes and genuine smiles, Indigenous and non-Indigenous participants shared a day of exchange, mutual listening, and discovery. Through scheduled business meetings, informal encounters and meaningful moments, this event once again showed that it is possible to build shared prosperity through recognition, trust, and reciprocity.
The day began with an emotional opening by the Screaming Eagles of Lac Simon and Oscar Kistabish, creating a space rooted in respect and intention. The keynote address by Drs. Ted Moses, marking the 50th anniversary of the James Bay Agreement, reminded us that today’s partnerships are built on a legacy of resilience and self-determination.
Throughout the day, our Master of Ceremonies Victoria LaBillois brought warmth, energy, and grace, encouraging attendees to connect beyond business cards. The presentation of the ID1N initiative by Dave Sergerie (CDEPNQL – FNQLEDC) also offered fresh perspectives on Indigenous economic development.
This edition also marked a significant first: thanks to the Niimuudaan mentorship program, five Cree-owned start-ups participated in the Business Exchange Day for the very first time. On the previous day, they attended an exclusive training led by Victoria LaBillois on “Step into your power – Be your own boss”, where they gained the tools and confidence to fully engage in their first business meetings.
We are incredibly proud to have supported their journey by creating a welcoming environment for them to build their network, affirm their vision, and recognize the value they bring to the regional economy.
As the hours went by, connections were made, ideas sparked, and many left the event inspired to build something new. That’s the spirit of the Business Exchange Day.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Apatisiiwin Skills Development, our Moose-level contributor, and to all our visibility and financial partners. Thanks to your support, this day continues to grow and open new possibilities every year.
