A new service to strengthen our ties with the Anishinabek communities
Published on July 15, 2024

We are excited to announce the launch of a new service at the Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance (SCNATEA): the pilot project of an Liaison Officer for the Anishinabe Nation. Funded by the Secrétariat aux relations des Premières Nations et Inuit du Québec, this 18-month project aims to strengthen and deepen our ties with the Anishinabe communities of Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
The main objective of this project is to create a lasting bridge between our organization and the Anishinabek communities.
Objectives of the pilot project:
- Establish open and effective communication channels: Maintain active communication lines with the leaders and members of the Anishinabek communities, ensuring their voices are heard and considered in our projects and initiatives.
- Understand the needs and expectations: Work closely with the communities and identify their specific needs, expectations, and challenges, allowing our organization to adapt its approaches and offerings accordingly.
- Promote collaborative projects: With a deep understanding of the communities' interests, facilitate the development of collaborative projects that bring tangible added value, whether in the fields of education, employment, health, or cultural preservation.
- Strengthen community capacities: Facilitate external projects and work to identify and implement initiatives that strengthen the capacities within the communities themselves, thereby promoting autonomy and sustainable development.
Implementation and follow-up:
This pilot project will be implemented over an initial period of 18 months, during which we will regularly assess progress and adjust our approach if necessary. Work closely with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure the project's success.
We are confident that this new service will bring significant benefits to all stakeholders and contribute to the harmonious and sustainable development of our region.
